Talking Not Walking

Sydney is officially 14 months old and she's still not walking on her own. She has taken up to 4 steps by herself (yesterday she walked from her high chair to Fiona, who was about 3 steps away) but then she just drops to the floor and crawls the rest of the way. She seems to want to climb, though. She races up the stairs, climbs up on the couch, and has recently started climbing the cat tree in the living room. I didn't get the camera quick enough to catch her inside the round part though.

Look at the calf muscle in her left leg! I can't imagine what kind of muscles she's going to have once she takes off running!

Around our house we say Sydney's talking not walking. She's developing quite a vocabulary. She says "more" (mostly when she wants a drink of my iced tea), "ow" is a cat (she thinks cats say "ow" instead of meow), "kitty," "doggy," "bye-bye," "baby," and her favorite, "uh-oh." We've starting teaching her our cats' names. It's going to be a while before she's ready to tackle Keira or Phoenix, but she says "buppy" when she sees Buffy, and Fi is "bish" (sounds kinda like fish, which is sort of close). She also says "Dutch" very well, which is what we call our neighbor's dog Dutchess.
